It is said “The depth of love cannot be under stood until the hours of separation”. 20th of May, 2023 will always remain a memorable day in my life, as on this day my mother left for her heavenly abode. Born in the year 1930, December 29, in the respectable Phukan family of Lakhimpur district, she did her studies in Lakhimpur and later got married to Deben Kakoti. My father too was a social worker. He was the founder of Lakhimpur Commerce College and B.Ed college. He had set up many high schools and LP schools.

Apurba Kakoti, my mother was a pious lady with a strong character. Along with my father my mother too was a social activist and participated in many social works. She was the president of Shilpa Anusthan of North Lakhimpur and also an active member of the Red Cross society. I remember her getting up early to organize meetings and prabhat pheri. I also used to accompany her. My mother was a lovely lady in all respect. I pray to the almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul on the day of her Adya Shraddha, May 30.
