Inclusive Education observes World Braille Day in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: Along with the rest of the globe, the World Braille Day was observed by Inclusive Education at Lakhimpur Education Block on Wednesday in a befitting manner. In this connection, a day-long programme was organized under the auspices of Inclusive Education Resource Persons Pankaj Hazarika, Dipak Saikia and Assistant Resource Person Chakra Bhorali at North Lakhimpur Town MV School.

The agenda of the event began with the unfurling of the North Lakhimpur Town MV School flag by Headmaster Jitumoni Dutta. Then rich tribute was paid to Louis Braille by lighting earthen lamps in front of his portrait and garlanding the same. It was followed by a competition event among the teachers in connection with teaching-learning materials. The competition was inaugurated by ADC-District Mission Coordinator Geetalee Duworah. Then DEEO Hem Kanta Saikia performed the ceremonial formalities of the Luis Braille' birthday celebration.

In connection with the event, the Asom Sangeet was performed in Signed Language for the first time ever in the history of Inclusive Education. The Asom Sangeet was performed by a team of employees of the Lakhimpur Education Block and CRCs. It was inaugurated by Lakhimpur DIET faculty Neelam Dolakashariya. Lakhimpur DIET Principal Dulami Herenj Pandu inaugurated the open session which was chaired by Hrishikesh Sarmah, a visually impaired student of Indira Gandhi High School.

Another visually impaired student of Asom Andha Sishu Bidyalaya, Kakumoni Borah delivered lecture as appointed speaker of the event wherein a galaxy of prominent persons, academicians were present as guest of honour. In the event, a number of specially children presented cultural items and prizes were given away to the winners of various competitions.
