LAKHIMPUR: The Indian Medical Association (IMA), North Lakhimpur cell, has adopted the ‘Aao Gaon Chalen’ campaign, making significant strides in providing healthcare and allied services to the local community.

Under this initiative, IMA has taken up the responsibility to reach out to various villages, aiming to enhance access to healthcare facilities and document the services rendered for the past 19 years.

Notably, the ‘Aao Gaon Chalen’ campaign was first launched by Dr Ketan Desai in 2004 with the primary objective of extending healthcare services to remote areas and quantifying the impact of these services for the government’s benefit. Encouraged by the campaign’s importance, IMA (HQs.) has rejuvenated the project on a larger scale, aiming to reach a minimum of 1,700 villages across the country by partnering with state leadership.

Under the initiative of this campaign, IMA, North Lakhimpur branch has adopted the Amotola village. Over the past few months, the branch organized three health camps on April 28, May 25, and June 25. These camps have proven instrumental in providing essential medical assistance to pregnant women, children, and the common public, thereby contributing to the overall improvement of community health.

In addition to the health camps, the IMA branch has conducted awareness meetings, focusing on communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as promoting hygiene practices. These efforts aim to educate the community and empower individuals to take charge of their health and prevent the spread of diseases.
