JAIPUR: Indrani Baruah's first work--The Homecoming and Other Stories--was unveiled on the final day of India's prime and biggest literary festival--The Jaipur Lit Fest--on Monday, January 23.
The Homecoming and Other Stories is an eclectic collection by Indrani Baruah, a senior police officer serving in Assam. What makes the stories unique and brings them out as evocative is they are fictionalised accounts of situations and issues of contemporary life. Inspired by everyday life, especially in the northeast of India, the book is a heartwarming collection of short stories exploring diverse themes.
They are deeply moving and redolent with humanism, which makes all the characters come alive.
The book was unveiled at a session of Jaipur Literary Festival 2023, billed as the 'greatest literary show in the world' that was moderated by Anupama Raju, the renowned poet, literary journalist and translator.
Published by Rupa, the 196 pages that the stories are spread over make for an engrossing read. The Homecoming and Other Stories is a book lovers' delight.
