SIVASAGAR: The Department of Geography, Garagon College in collaboration with IQAC of the college conducted an outreach programme at Na-mati High School, Nazira on Monday. The purpose of the programme was to promote community engagement and social responsibility among the students. The students of the Geography department under the guidance of Dr Dilip Kr Deka, HoD of the department, Monorama Phukon and Dr Rituraj Neog, Assistant Professors paid a visit to Na-mati High School with twin objectives of teaching and serving.
Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, Principal of Gargaon College appreciated the efforts of the faculty members and students of Geography Department for conducting such an outreach programme to exchange information pertaining to teaching, learning resources. He expressed that such programmes will provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas and facilitate the development of skills and expertise in the respective fields.
The introductory meeting was held under the presidentship of Binod Patar, Head Master of Na-mati High School where in Dr Dilip Kr Deka outlined the purpose of undertaking the student outreach programme with the aim to sensitize and educate the students as well as to inculcate in them the importance of community feeling.
He also stated about the various activities that the Geography department of Gargaon College has initiated to carry out in collaboration with the school. As part of the outreach programme, the students of Geography department conducted three parallel programmes considering the interest of the students of the school.
