Integrated health campaign launched in Nagaon district

In order to reach out to at-risk population for screening, testing and linkages to treatment of STI, HIV, TB, Hepatitis B & C through hybrid outreach approach, Integrated Health Campaign was launched on Tuesday in the high prevalent Nagaon district of Assam.

NAGAON: In order to reach out to at-risk population for screening, testing and linkages to treatment of STI, HIV, TB, Hepatitis B & C through hybrid outreach approach, Integrated Health Campaign was launched on Tuesday in the high prevalent Nagaon district of Assam. The campaign was launched by District Commissioner of Nagaon, Narendra Kr Shah, in presence of officials from district administration, health department, district health society, Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS), District Integrated District Integrated Strategy for HIV/AIDS (DISHA), Strategic Expertise Technical Unit (SETU) and other stakeholders.

Inaugurating the campaign at the premises of the Office of the District Commissioner, Nagaon, Shah said, “The Integrated Health Campaign in the highly HIV prevalent Nagaon district is a necessity and I am sure that this campaign will go a long way in not only in detecting People Living with HIV (PLHIV) but also putting them into treatment immediately.” He further assured the health professionals and the field staff, who are engaged in this campaign, will receive full support from the district administration. He also requested the field staff engaged in the campaign to ensure that confidentiality of the patients is maintained as HIV is related to stigma and discrimination. The District Commissioner also flagged off the vehicles which are to be used for carrying the teams to the camp sites across the district.

The duration of the campaign is 60 days and on each day 3 camps will be held in different locations across the district. A total of 180 camps will be held during the campaign. Integrated Health Campaign is an intervention from National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) which are implemented in states through AIDS Control Societies to cover those population who are at risk of acquiring HIV, STI/RTI infections through flagship prevention initiatives such as Targeted Intervention and Link Workers’ Scheme and other line departments.
