LAKHIMPUR: For the first time in the State, the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) BA-BEd was launched in North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) on Friday.
Notably, only two colleges of the State, namely North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) and Tyagbir Hem Baruah College have received the permission from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to launch the ITEP, BA-BEd from the current year as per National Education Policy-2020. Though many other colleges of the State applied for the permission to launch the programme, they reportedly could not fulfil the norms in this regard. As per report, the NCTE has accorded recognition to only 42 higher academic institutions across the country to launch the programme from 2023-24 session.
The inaugural function for the launching of the programme along with the two-week-long Student Induction Programme for the ITEP, BA-BEd-2023-24 was organized simultaneously in North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) on the same day. The event was attended by Principal Dr Biman Chandra Chetia, Vice-Principal (Academic) Bani Kanta Konwar, Vice-Principal (Administrative) Ranjan Borah, Examination Controller Dr Chandra Manche, Departmental Head Dr Mary Choudhury.
On the other hand, Principal of Lakhimpur BEd College, Dr Sonali Gogoi Konwar graced the occasion as guest of honour. She delivered her lecture on the role of teachers, teaching and learning methods in the context of the newly-launched programme. Professors Dr. Ishmirekha Hundique, Rajen Mandal and Dr Bubu Baruah also took part in the event which was held under the management of Professor Dr Binod Chetia.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Biman Chandra Chetia explained in detail about the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) BA-BEd. Vice-Principals Bani Kanta Konwar, Ranjan Borah also delivered lectures by highlighting various aspects of the newly-launched programme.
