International Day of Persons with Disabilities observed in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA:  The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was observed in Tinsukia district with a 3-day elaborate programme. The concluding programme organized by Samagra Siksha in joint initiative of urban Block and Tinsukia district Education office was held at Durgabari Sishu Vidyalaya Tinsukia on Sunday.

The Inspector of Schools and DEEO Kabita Deka presented ‘Prerona Award 2023’ to 2 teachers who contributed immensely to the well being of children with disabilities and they are Konjit Deka, assistant teacher of Lakhipathar High School and Nabasikha Gogoi, assistant teacher of Batorpukhuri LP School. Other recipients of the awards among the students are Sujal Newpani of Ambikapur High School who secured 74 per cent marks in HSLC Examinations 2023 and Urmi Moran of Bator Pukhuri LP School for extraordinary performance in scholastic and other areas. The event was chaired by Mukunda Mahanta, headmaster of Indira Gandhi High School and was moderated by District Project Officer of Samagra Siksha Niluma Gogoi.

GAURISAGAR: Amguri Elementary Education Block in Sivasagar district and in collaboration with Block Guardians Committee observed International Day of Persons with disabilities at Gaurisagar High School on Sunday. The day long programme started with hoisting of the flag by Mukut Deka, headmaster of the school. Followed by smriti tarpan initiated by Dilip Saikia, secretary of Block Gurdian Committee. Thereafter, plantation sapling programme was performed by Bibha Das, CRCC. On this occasion musical chair and throwing ball competition was held among the disabled students.
