International Girls’ Child Day observed on theme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’.

The Social Welfare Department, in association with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women, observed the International Girl Child Day on the theme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’.

HOWRAGHAT: The Social Welfare Department, in association with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women, observed the International Girl Child Day on the theme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. The department organized Matri Kishori Mela and a Science Exhibition Competition at Birla, Diphu here on Wednesday.

The District Mission Coordinator of the Social Welfare Department, Romali Teronpi has informed that different events were organized to observe the International Girl Child Day. Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong, Madhumita Bhagawati inaugurated the exhibition.

District Social Welfare Officer, Under Secretary of the council, Director of District Industries & Commerce Centre, Secretary of District Legal Services Authority were present on the occasion.

Events organized by the Social Welfare Department were Matri Kishori Mela, exhibition stalls were put on show by DICC, One Stop Centre, Special Cell for Women, Integrated Child Development Services, Diphu Post Office, Assam Skill Development Mission and District Legal Services Authority. A science exhibition was also organized where students from various schools of Diphu like Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Erudite Academy, etc. showcased their exhibits.

The winners of the science exhibition competition were Erudite Academy, Diphu Government Girls’ School and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Diphu in first, second and third place respectively.
