BISWANATH CHARIALI: Scientific Temperament, the only popular e-medium of science popularization in Assam, held an international webinar recently on 'COVID-19: Vocational Expectations, Emerging Youth Careers and Epidemic-Post Conditions-a Collective Analysis'.
Dr Rajiv Das, Ophthalmologist, Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh, Ripunjay Bordalai, president of Scientific Temperature, and other resource persons shed light on the need for vocational education and how it could be incorporated into the education system. All the speakers apprehended the fear that the economic situation in Assam would deteriorate further as long as the people of Assam were not able to become self-reliant. The speakers opined that due to the activities of the Department of Health in Assam, the mortality rate of people infected with COVID-19 in Assam was lower than in the rest of the world. Over 2,000 viewers took part in the webinar.
