International webinar on diaspora literature held in Jamugurihat

An international webinar on the topic ‘Diaspora theory and criticism’ was organized by freedom fighter Prasad Singh Subba Academy, Assam on Monday through Google Meet platform.

JAMUGURIHAT: An international webinar on the topic 'Diaspora theory and criticism' was organized by freedom fighter Prasad Singh Subba Academy, Assam on Monday through Google Meet platform.

The programme began with lighting of the ceremonial lamp and offering floral tribute in front of the portrait of the freedom fighter by Prakash Subba, vice-president of the Academy, along with family members. Chatraman Subba, president of the Academy, gave the welcome speech which was followed by an introductory speech by Mahakabi Mohan Dukhun. After that Gyan Bahadur Chetry, a known critic, highlighted the topic as a keynote speaker followed by the key speech by retired professor of Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu Dr. Govinda Raj Bhattarai.

During the course of discussion, Dr. Bhattarai traced the origin, growth and development of diaspora literature in many parts of the world. The lecture session was followed by an interactive session wherein Purna Kumar Sarma and Dr. Tilak Sarma and some others participated. After the discussion on the topic, some selected poets were invited for poetry recitation.
