GUWAHATI: ITC Limited, under the project of ITC Mission Sunehera Kal, supported the launch of one time use plastic-free campaign conceptualized by the Department of Elementary Education (DEE) with Samagra Siksha Abhiyan which is implemented by Learning Links Foundation (LLF), the education partner of ITC Mission Sunehera Kal, stated a press release.
The launch event was held recently at Suren Das College, Hajo. The event was graced by Kamal Kumar Baishya, Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (R), Abhay Kumar, factory manager along with other distinguished guests, officers of DEE, Samagra Shiksha, BEEOs, BRCs, CRCCs and 40 head masters of 40 TEP intervention schools under ITC Limited Mission Sunehra Kal – Teacher Empowerment Programme.
On the occasion, a sticker containing message of keeping schools and homes one time use plastic free was released to distribute to all the government school students of nine educational blocks catering all govt. schools under Kamrup (R). 2,20,000 stickers were printed by ITC and handed over to Kamal Kumar Baisya by the managers of ITC factory, Kukurmara.
Apurba Thakuriya, DEEO, Kamrup(R) oriented on the aforementioned topic followed by the motivating speech of the chief guest DC, Kamrup(R) and other distinguished dignitaries. The students along with the audience vowed to stop using one time plastic in their home and schools by promoting the campaign through the stickers provided to them and make the environment a clean, healthy and safe place to live in.
