Its Been 13 Years Assam Still Remembers Serial Blast Victims of 2008

GUWAHATI: A series of blasts had rocked several parts of Assam 12 years back on this day – October 30.

The nine blasts that ripped through Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Barpeta Road and Bongaigaon had killed over 88 people and injured 500.

The day is now marked as Black day in the history of Assam. The three blasts in Guwahati at Ganeshguri, Kachari and Panbazar claimed as many as 53 lives.

National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB - R) chief Ranjan Daimary was the mastermind behind the blasts. He was sentenced to life in prison by a CBI court last year.

Religious persons from different communities were present to offer prayers to the departed souls in the unfortunate incident. MLA Parimal Suklabaidya, MLA Chandra Mohan Patowary, Queen Oja, member of Lok Sabha and MLA from Dispur, Atul Bora were also present in the ceremony to offer their condolences. They then offered floral tribute to the photos of those who lost their lives.

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma offered his condolences on Twitter.
