DOOMDOOMA: James Warren Tea Ltd, which came into existence after its bifurcation from its parent organization, Warren Tea Limited, entered into an agreement with Asam Chah Karmachari Sangha (ACKS) to fulfil its various demands at a settlement meeting held at the office of ACKS at Wood Road, Doomdooma on Monday. This was stated by Girish Chandra Barpatra Gohain, lifetime general secretary of ACKS, Doomdooma branch in a press release.

While the tea company will fulfil some of its demands like promotion and filling up of vacant posts within June of the current year, it assured them to fulfil the other demands through negotiation. While from the company’s side, the visiting agent G R Bagai and assistant visiting agent Sudip Kumar of the registered office were present along with all the garden managers, the ACKS was represented by its general secretary Girish Barpatra Gohain, the secretaries of its Tingrai and Moran branch, Rishab Kalita and Mohini Mohan Ligira respectively, assistant secretary of Doomdooma branch, Hitendra Baruah, besides all the unit secretaries of the tea estates under it. ACKS raised various demands through a press meet last year at Dhoedaam TE and highlighted the callous attitude of the management of the company in not filling up various posts lying vacant due to super-annuation of a good number of staff. The company’s attempt to run its day-to-day affairs through voucher system gave rise to great resentment among its employees.
