GUWAHATI: Jansankhya Samadhan Foundation NE Chapter conducted its first National Seminar in collaboration with BharatiyaIti has Sankalan Samiti Morigaon District Committee on "Mystery of Mayong and Purity: Pollution through Population" at Burha Mayong Janajati High School on Sunday.

This national seminar was organised to explore the pre-history of modern times of Mayong and further to explore and examine whether pollution through population exists in this famous place of Mayong. At least 12 papers were presented related to the topic by various scholars in the seminar.

The programme was moderated by Dr Subhajit Choudhary, the organising secretary of JSF NE Chapter. Explaining the aims and objectives, the chairman of JSF NE Chapter Sailendra Pandey stated that the foundation has been functioning across the country since 2011 with its one point agenda for two child policy for all. "In North East, especially in Assam, it has started working since August 2020. Now it is high time for everybody to come forward and join hands for the demand of the act to protect our tradition, culture, identity and specially our motherland," said Pandey.

The chief guest Lokendra Hazarika, an eminent scholar and historian of Mayong, enlightened on the changing scenario of Mayong due to the rapid growth of population of our country. He also lauded the efforts of JSF for taking initiatives for awareness of the consequences of population growth as well as appealing before the Government of India for enforcing a strict population control act, stated a press release.
