Jonbeel Mela to be held from January 21 to January 23

The traditional Jonbeel Mela with unique barter will be held at Jonbeel Pathar near here from January 21 to January 23.

JAGIROAD: The traditional Jonbeel Mela with unique barter will be held at Jonbeel Pathar near here from January 21 to January 23. According to the decision of the Rajdarbar, Gova Raja Deep Singh Deoraja will attend a community feast followed by community fishing at the mela venue on January 21. The unique barter among the hills and plain tribes will be held on January 22 where the hill tribes from Meghalaya and Karbi Anglong will exchange their indigenous food products with the plain tribes.

The Gova Raja Rajdarbar will be held on January 23 where Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will distribute the Rajbhatta to 18 traditional Rajas. Due to the pandemic, the open fair (mela) and cultural functions will not be held. The celebration committee in this connection has called upon each and all to follow COVID protocol while enjoying the events of the Jonbeel Mela.
