Justice for Dimple Kumawat: AIDSO demands capital punishment for murderers

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district committees of All India Democratic Students' Organization (AIDSO), All India Democratic Youth Organization (AIDYO) and All India Mahila Sanskritik Sangathan resorted to protest in North Lakhimpur on Thursday demanding capital punishment for the murderers of Dimple Kumawat.

Sensation prevailed in the Uzan Bazar area in Guwahati after the body of a teenager (13 years) girl with multiple injuries was recovered from a bed in the rented house of her parents on Wednesday. In a latest development in the heinous murder case of the Class-VII student, cousin of the deceased, Ashish Gupta on Thursday admitted to the brutal killing of the minor. Earlier, three suspects were arrested by Guwahati Police in this connection.

By initiating the protest at Saboti near Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital, the activists of the organizations demanded the trial of the murderers in fast track court and to reward them capital punishment. Moreover, they demanded the State Government to ensure the security of women across the State. They rocked the environment by shouting slogans in support of their demands and condemning the brutal murder of the minor.

Attending the protest programme, State member of AIDYO, Birinchi Pegu condemned the murder of the minor student with strong terms. He also criticized the State Government alleging its failure to provide security to the women. On the other hand, State supervisor of the teenagers' body, Jinku Doley asserted that rampant use of drugs and other narcotic substance, flooding of pornography impacting the mentality of deteriorated youths were the root cause of such heinous incidents. He called upon all to protest against such incidents. Lakhimpur district unit AIDYO president Hemkanta Miri and AIDSO president Junmoni Miri also spoke in the protest programme by condemning the murder case.
