KALAIGAON: The villagers of Bhehguri under Kalaigaon revenue circle in Udalguri district face erosion threat from the Noa River.

If anti-erosion measures are not taken up on a war footing at the earliest, the embankment along the Noa will give way under the pressure of flood water and it will be breached. Then several villages like Shagunbahi, Geruwa, Beltoli, Bholabari, Amguri and Ganakpara will be flooded.

The people of Bhehguri and Rupatal villages under Kalaigaon revenue circle have been suffering since 5-6 years due to the erosion caused by the River Noa. The erosion of the river has already washed away the houses of more than 50 families of these villages. Moreover, many families had to lose their crop lands because of the erosion caused by the river. So, the villagers have urged the authority concerned to repair the embankment at Bhehguri near Rupatal tea garden soon.
