Boko: Kamrup DTO’s Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) and Boko Police jointly checked all the vehicles plying on NH-17 at Boko in Lower Assam’s Kamrup district on Monday. Two-wheelers, private and public vehicles were monitored and those violating traffic rules were fined from Rs 500 to Rs 5,000. MVI officials also distributed leaflets to the public and announced through mike about the newly-implemented rules and fines by the government for road safety. Motor Vehicle Inspector Bikramaditya Gogoi said that more than Rs 1 lakh was collected as fine and four Tata Magic vehicles were seized due to non-payment of road tax.
