Khumtai MLA Mrinal Saikia condemns attack on indigenous people by mob

JAMUGURIHAT: Khumtai LAC MLA Mrinal Saikia visited the incident place of Chakighat, the south-west part of Jamugurihat in the afternoon on August 1 and condemned the brutal attack upon the indigenous people on July 30 by some miscreants. It is to be mentioned that an aggressive mob attacked on the team of Jamugurihat administration including Naduar Revenue Circle Officer Akashdeep Kakoti, Jamugurihat OC Pranjal Kumar Nath along with twelve others who had gone there to hand over the land to self help groups. Addressing the media persons after visiting the disputed site Khumtai MLA Mrinal Saikia condemned the incident and blamed some intellectuals, students union leaders of Assam for the incident. He further added if the government initiates any eviction drive in encroached government land then some of the intellectuals and leaders of student union, Krishak leaders stand against the government decision and advocate in favor of illegal encroachers. Getting support from so called intellectuals and students leaders, the illegal encroachers indulge themselves in encroachment and anti-social activities. Jamugurihat incident of July 30 is such type of planned activity against the Assamese community.
