Haflong: Even after 48 hours of kidnapping, Santosh Hojai of Harangajao, who was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on April 24, remained untraced.
Meanwhile, Joyanla Hojai, wife of Santosh, approached Jadike Naisho Hosom, the Dimasa apex body, for its intervention to find out her husband.
She said, “I am the resident of village Gamadi Hawar of Harangajao, Dima Hasao. I have been living in the area peacefully with my family since long. But unfortunately on April 24, five unidentified persons in civil uniform with sophisticated weapons came to our residence at around 6 pm asking for the owner of the JCB as their Alto car was stuck in a nearby area and they needed the JCB to drag out the vehicle. When my husband approached them, they dragged him inside their white Bolero car and took him away.”
“I went with my neighbours and relatives to the outpost of Harangajao police station to report the incident by lodging an FIR but the officer in-charge convinced me to return home and said that my husband would return the next day. But he has not returned home and we do not know whether he is alive or not. On April 25, an FIR (number 0320) was lodged at Harangajao outpost police station,” she added.
When contacted, Superintendent of Police Bir Bikram Gogoi said that a case had been registered and it would be too early to comment since the investigation had just started.
