PATHSALA: The family of Abdul Alim, who was killed in the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) agitation last year, still awaits justice.

23-year-old Abdul who hailed from Baghmara in Bajali sub-division in Assam's Barpeta district had died when the police fired at protestors agitating against the controversial CAA in Lalunggaon in Guwahati on December 12.

His death has pushed the family into a future of uncertainty as he was the sole earning member.

Abdul's mother Abida Khatun said, "My son grew up amidst acute financial crisis and when he got employed in Guwahati, he hoped of getting his sister married." "We want justice for our son", she said.

His father, Lal Mamud Khatun said, "After passing the HS examination, our son had gone to Chennai to work in a company and then to Guwahati to earn a livelihood for the family. He was the only earning member."

"When the State government has not ordered an inquiry into the killing of my son, how will we get justice?" questioned the distressed father.

"We want justice and the authorities concerned should conduct an inquiry into his death without delay," he said.
