Kisan Sabha, Nirman Shramik Santha demand resolution of farmers' issues

LAKHIMPUR: The State committees and Lakhimpur district units of All India Kisan Sabha, and Sodou Asom Nirman Shramik Santha (AIUTC) staged protest in North Lakhimpur town on Monday in support of a slew of demands. The members of the organizations, led by Kisan Sabha State president Girindra Prashad Upadhyay and Nirman Shramik Santha Lakhimpur district unit secretary Satyaranjan Das, took out a protest rally from the office of the Communist Party of India, Lakhimpur district unit, to the Deputy Commissioner's office. The demonstration continued in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office for an hour.

By initiating the protest programme, the organizations observed 'Biswas Ghat Divas' slamming the Union Government for not fulfilling the commitments which the Union Government made in black and white to All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) with regard to resolving the farmers' problem within January 15. In this context, the organizations reiterated their demands for the withdrawal of all cases registered against the Kisan Sabha leaders during the stir initiated demanding for the repeal of farm laws, immediate release of compensation to the families of the martyred farmers, immediate fixing of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 23 agro produces as committed along with other demands. In support of these demands, the organizations submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

By staging the same protest programme, the organizations demanded the State Government to release fertilizer with subsidy, which is closed at present, for the small tea planters and to construct a bridge over River Shingara at Rampur-Bogibeel and Phulbari Gaon Panchayat located in the crucial Assam Arunachal Border area under Naoboicha LAC of Lakhimpur district.
