Koch-Rajbanshi organizations submit memo to CM; demand Kamatapur State, ST status

BONGAIGAON: In support of various demands, the Koch-Rajbanshi organizations submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday. Biswajit Ray, secretary of Koch-Rajbanshi National Convention, said that they demanded a political solution to the separate Kamatapur state issue through a tripartite meeting, immediately ST categorization of the Koch-Rajbanshi community and passing a bill for formation of Kamatapur autonomous council in coming Lagislative assembly session.

"We also demanded for construction of a cultural centre and a Koch-Rajbanshi museum, construction of a medical college and a stadium in Bongaigaon district and construction of Chilaray Park at Amingaon," Ray said.

"This is the joint demand of all Koch-Rajbanshi organizations. The memorandum today was signed by representatives of several organizations like Koch-Rajbanshi National Convention, Koch-Rajbanshi Sangram Samiti, Koch-Rajbanshi Women's Committee, All Koch-Rajbanshi Students' Union, All Koch Rajbanshi Yuba Chatra Sanmilani and All Assam Koch-Rajbanshi Sanmilani. Our demands should be fulfilled immediately for the greater interest of the Koch-Rajbanshi community," Ray said.
