Koilajuli Rural Haat and millet FPOs launched in Biswanath district

The inauguration function of Koilajuli Rural Haat and launching of Koilajuli Millet FPOs and products were organized on Saturday at Koilajuli Rural Haat Bhawan along the Assam-Arunachal border in the Biswanath district.

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The inauguration function of Koilajuli Rural Haat and launching of Koilajuli Millet FPOs and products were organized on Saturday at Koilajuli Rural Haat Bhawan along the Assam-Arunachal border in the Biswanath district.

Inaugurating the haat or market, Nabin Roy, General Manager NABARD, Assam RO, Guwahati interacted with the farmers and expressed his happiness with the rural haat personnel and millet products. He also thanked CADAT, a local NGO, as well as the rural haat committee along with FPOs for taking up such activities. The objectives of the programme were explained by Suman Chaterjee, District Development Manager, Sonitpur and Biswanath, while Manoranjan Hazarika, Secretary, CADAT, dwelt at length about the importance of setting up rural markets and also millet mission.

The programme was attended by Dr Pallab Kumar Sarmah, Chief Scientist, Biswanath College of Agriculture and others. The NABARD officials visited the millet fields in the area after the programme.
