Kokrajhar DC Varnali Deka urges people to follow traffic rules and regulations

Road Safety Week got underway in the Kokrajhar district on Wednesday to coincide with the National Road Safety Week.

KOKRAJHAR: Road Safety Week got underway in the Kokrajhar district on Wednesday to coincide with the National Road Safety Week.

Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka inaugurated the Road Safety Week 2023 by flagging off a bike rally organized for creating awareness among general public on road safety issues in the presence of Joint Commissioner of Transport Department, BTR, and other stakeholders at a function held at the District Transport Office premises of Kokrajhar on Wednesday.

The Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairperson of District Road Safety Committee informed that the week-long Road Safety Week would be observed till January 17. She called upon all the people of Kokrajhar to follow the traffic rules and regulations, to wear helmets, fasten seat belts, etc while riding two wheelers and driving other vehicles. She expressed hope that this new year would be accident free if everyone followed the traffic rules. She further urged the transport department to ensure strict enforcement of MV Act and relevant guidelines on road safety.

The bike rally was participated by the officials of the Transport department, members of Bodoland Riders' Team and employees of motorcycle showrooms of the Kokrajhar district.
