KOKRAJHAR: Congress president of Kokrajhar district Garjan Mashahary on Monday slammed the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his alleged communal and unparliamentary comments against muslims and anti tribal mindset. The Kokrajhar district Congress Committee on Monday lodged an FIR at Kokrajhar Police Station against the Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for his communal remarks on particular communities. The FIR was lodged by Md. Habil Ali, general secretary of Kokrajhar district Congress committee, Joynal Mandol, president, Sesapani Booth Congress committee and Bahatulla Saeik, office secretary of Kokrajhar district Congress committee.

Talking to media persons in Kokrajhar, the president of Kokrajhar district Congress committee Garjan Mashahary said a Chief Minister of a State should stay away from giving communal and provocative statements but Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma recently targeted a particular community during an interview with media persons in Guwahati. He said Dr. Sarma targeted miya muslims of Assam to clean up from market places if Assamese people come to their business. He questioned if muslim people, Bodo, Garo, Rabha, Rajbongshis, Adivasis of Assam are not Assamese then who is an Assamese? Sarma often says Bodo youths have emerged in sports but Assamese are not and muslims can work hard but not the Assamese. This is completely provocative, unparliamentary and unconstitutional. He also said the view of a Chief Minister should not be such scanty.

Mashahary said the Bodos and other tribal people were not considered as Assamese or people of Assam. The Adivasis, Rajbongshis, and Muslims are also getting the same treatment. The Bodos started a revolt for statehood movement for this kind of discriminatory attitude and treatment of ruling class of people like Himanta Biswa Sarma, he said adding that the intolerance among the people of Assam will increase with the myopic policy of Sarma. He also reiterated that Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma was not fit for the post of Chief Minister and said the people of Assam need an alternative Chief Minister with impartial attitude who respects others equally.
