Kokrajhar Double Rape & Murder Case Accused Shot While Trying to Flee

The accused tried to escape during a search operation near Bedlangmari, Salbari and the police had to fire to prevent him from escaping.

GUWAHATI: One of the accused in the Kokrajhar double Rape and murder case was severely injured when the police fired at him after he tried to flee.

According to Special DGP GP Singh, the accused tried to escape during a search operation near Bedlangmari, Salbari and the police had to fire him to prevent him from escaping. Further was grievously injured and hospitalised.

The injured identified as Forizul Rahman (22) has sustained severe injuries and has been referred to Barpeta Hospital.

Earlier the Assam police arrested 7 culprits involved in the heinous crime.

All the accused who are aged between 19 to 27 years were identified as Muzammil Sheikh, Nazibul Sheikh, Farouk Rahman, Hanif Sheikh, Jahanur Islam, Md. Atab Ali and Sankarde Barman.

The corpses of two minor girls who happened to be siblings were found hanging from a tree in Assam's Kokrajhar district.

The corpses of the deceased sisters were recovered from a small forest patch in the Abhayakuti village on Friday evening, informed a senior police official.

The family of the deceased sisters had then alleged that the girls were raped and murdered, as per the police.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited with the families of the two deceased young sisters today to try to console them and share their pain. He asked the Assam police to do an extensive and in-depth investigation on this matter and dig out the cause of death.

"The Government will take stringent action if there is any foul play. If the victims were forced to do self-harm, Police shall find the reasons for the same," stated Himanta Biswa Sarma on Facebook.

"Women safety shall always remain the top priority of Assam Govt. Atrocity in any form against poor too shall not be tolerated," he added.

BTC Chief Pramod Boro and Kokrajhar East MLA Sri Lawrence Islary accompanied the Assam CM to visit the family members of the two deceased siblings.
