Kokrajhar is declared as 'City of Peace' by the new BTC chief Promod Boro

New BTC chief Promod Boro has announced Kokrajhar as 'City of Peace' and appealed to everyone to grow white rose as the symbol of the name of the city

Kokrajhar: Newly sworn-in and fourth chief executive member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Pramod Boro on Tuesday declared Kokrajhar as'City of Peace' through his official Facebook page.

Making the announcement Boro urged everyone to grow white rose as the symbol of the name of the city.

Boro took to Twitter and wrote, "Happy to announce Kokrajhar as 'City of Peace' immediately after the swearing-in as 4th Chief of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). A humble appeal to all the residents/business establishment/hotels/restaurants etc. of Kokrajhar to grow White Roses as the symbol of the name of the City. Our concerned line department will assist anyone seeking help in this noble task."

The Bodoland Territorial Council was constituted on Tuesday with a swearing-in program held at Kokrajhar where Boro took oath as the new chief of BTC in the presence of Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor, and state finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and other senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies UPPL and Gana Suraksha Party (GSP), besides dignitaries and the general public.

Along with Boro, three executive members (EMs) – Ghanshyam Das (Independent, Dihira constituency), Gautam Das (BJP, Mathanguri constituency), and Diganta Borua (BJP, Mwdwibari constituency) took oath in the swearing-in ceremony. Meanwhile, Gobinda Ch Basumatary, UPPL's vice-president was sworn in as the new deputy chief executive member of BTC.
