KOKRAJHAR: Kokrajhar police have officially destroyed all seized contraband drugs and psychotropic substances under the Kokrajhar district on Tuesday. The ganja and heroin were disposed off at Chandamari open ground near Gaurang River in Kokrajhar in the presence of special DGP Dr. L R Bishnoi.
The goods were recovered from different places of Kokrajhar district in the last 7 months and today it was officially destroyed by burning at Chandamari open ground near Gaurang River in Kokrajhar that included 1500 kg ganja, 1.5 kg. heroin, 32 gram brown sugar, 33 packets of tablets and cough syrup.
Special DGP and in-charge of IGP of BTR Dr L R Bishnoi was present during the destruction hour. Bishnoi told that the recovered drugs and heroin have been disposed off after a thorough court direction for disposal.
Bishnoi said that a strict investigation has started into the attack on journalist Jayanta Debnath. He said the police administration was shocked at the incident and necessary action has been initiated against the incident. He also said that the incident was unfortunate.
