Kokrajhar police raid residence of Ex-BLT Welfare Society president

Kokrajhar police led by Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roushan and Additional SP Mukut Rabha, on Thursday raided the residence of Jana Mahan Mashahary, the president of Ex-BLT Welfare Society, at Kokrajhar.

KOKRAJHAR: Kokrajhar police led by Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roushan and Additional SP Mukut Rabha, on Thursday raided the residence of Jana Mahan Mashahary, the president of Ex-BLT Welfare Society, at Kokrajhar.

Sources said that the police team carried out the raid at around 1.30 pm and the search operation was on till the filing of this report. However, the police did not disclose details about the raid.

Meanwhile, talking to media persons, Mashahary said that the police team raided his house and seized some items, including documents of the Ex-BLT Welfare Society. He admitted that the police team seized two air guns, gold and documents of the Society. He claimed that he was fully cooperating with the police team as he had no objectionable materials.

Mashahary said he had been leading the Ex- BLT Welfare Society since 2003 after the BTC accord was signed to help the government in maintaining peace and for rehabilitation of over 3000 cadres and leaders of ex-BLT. He said that he maintained the discipline of former cadres and extended help to the government in implementing various clauses of the accord, besides helping in maintaining peace in the region. He also said that the former cadres had joined in different paramilitary forces and many had settled down in their lives. Expressing sadness over the sudden raid, Mashahary said that being an Indian citizen, he had the right to live in peace.
