Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhubri celebrates World Environment Day

DHUBRI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dhubri celebrated World Environment Day on Monday in the office of the Salkocha Gram Panchayat Office with a series of programmes adhering to the mission, objectives and agenda of advocacy of ‘Mission Lifestyle for Environment (LIFE)’.

Sreegram Part 1 village of Chapar-Salkocha Block, which is also a village undertaken in NICRA initiatives of KVK, Dhubri where climatic aberrations are frequently felt. The programme covered awareness on climate change, deforestation and afforestation, erosion of soil and its conservation, rainwater harvesting and its efficient use, growing and consumption of locally grown fruits and vegetables, use of climate resilient crops, varieties (Climate Smart Agriculture), increase in soil organic carbon and soil health management, adoption of sustainable production and consumption systems, climate preparedness and necessary actions etc. topics were being explained to the mass.

A competition of extempore speech on environmental terminology and facts was organized among the students of the villages of vicinity. After plantation programme by the officials of KVK, Dhubri and Salkocha Gram Panchayat, prizes were distributed to the participants.
