TEZPUR: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur organized a ceremonial planting of potato under North Eastern Hill (NEH) programme at Bhalukjaroni village in the Sonitpur district.
MLA of Tezpur, Prithiraj Rabha addressed the village farmers on the occasion and encouraged them to follow scientific cultivation practices of potato. The MLA, along with KVK staff, demonstrated planting of potatoes in the field.
Angana Sarmah, in-charge head, elaborated the role played by KVK for the betterment of the farming community. Moonmoon Basumatary, SMS, Plant Protection, demonstrated potato seed treatment and discussed major diseases and pests of potato and Dr Roji Chutia, SMS, Agronomy, discussed elaborately the package and practices of potato. The programme was attended by around 40 farmers along with students of fishery college, Raha, Nagaon.
