TINSUKIA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tinsukia organized National Fish Farmers Day 2022 on Monday at Matiakhana village under Itakhuli Development Block of Tinsukia District. A total of 21 farmers, 7 males and 14 females, attended the programme. Dr Kripak Borah and Dr Gautomi Dutta of KVK Tinsukia were present as resource persons. While Dr Borah elaborated on the importance of fish farming for rural economic development and urged the people to be a part of the blue revolution of the country, Dr Dutta on the other hand emphasized on importance of fish in our diet. Scientific fish farming, different diseases and feeds of fish were also discussed by Dr Dutta. The farmers expressed satisfaction with the methodological and scientific approaches imparted in the programme for fish farming.

In another programme, the institute organized a day-long animal health camp at Hilikhaghat under Hapjan block in Tinsukia District recently. In the camp 55 farmers and farm women participated and nearly about 929 farm animals were examined and treated. KVK also distributed few vitamins, mineral supplements, rumenotorics, anthelmintics, and liver tonics among the animal raisers.
