DONKAMUKAM: Karbi Student Association (KSA) activists led by president Semson Teron burnt the effigy of State Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday at Donkamukam in West Karbi Anglong for his alleged statement that non-tribals could buy or sell land under jurisdiction of Sixth Schedule area.

The activists claimed that this 'irresponsible' comment was made in an election campaign meet held in BTR on November 6. They also condemned his statement saying that the minister knew very well that Sixth Schedule areas were meant to safeguard tribal identity. They demanded that the minister should withdraw or clarify his comment.
