Kuki college teachers' association formed in Dibrugarh

The college teachers belonging to the Kuki community of Assam officially launched an association by the name Assam Kuki Tribes College Professors’ Association with its acronym as ASKTCPAS recently.

DIBRUGARH: The college teachers belonging to the Kuki community of Assam officially launched an association by the name Assam Kuki Tribes College Professors' Association with its acronym as ASKTCPAS recently.

It was a simple but befitting virtual mode function attended by almost all college teachers of the Kuki community from different parts of State. The chief guest on the occasion was Dr. Thangkim Haolai, retired professor of Haflong Government College and author of Kuki Culture in North Cachar Hills; Before and After the Advent of Christianity. Programme highlight of the official launching of the association was marked by initial invocation from Roslyne Changsan, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Haflong Government College, and was followed by keynote address by Dr Lamkholal Doungel, Associate Professor, DHSK College, Dibrugarh.

Dr. Doungel while discoursing on the pressing need of an association for the Kuki college teachers, informed and expounded to the members about the motto and objectives of the association. He also said that the constitution of the association was ready with the motto 'Teaching, Learning and Beyond', that unequivocally implied that members of the association should devote themselves for the cause of common good of the society beyond the basic academic duty of teaching and learning.

Speaking on the occasion after her official pronouncement of launching the association, chief guest Dr T Haolai congratulated the teachers and expressed her happiness over formation of the much needed professional organization. She said, "This will go a long way in uplifting our society in the path of progress."

The newly-formed first executive body of the Assam Kuki Tribes College Professors' Association, to be headed by Dr Lamkholal Doungel as president, Dr Paochon Tuboi as general secretary, and Hoitinkim Singson as treasurer, was blessed and dedicated by Rev.Siehjalam Doungel, who also exhorted the professors to serve the nation as torchbearers of the society.
