Laikhuta of village library named Jnandeep Puthibhoral erected in Bokata Japisajia village

GAURISAGAR: Under the initiative of Pranjal Mohan Baruah, a student of Bokata Japisajia village, a remote village under Demow revenue circle in Sivasagar district, the laikhuta of a village library named Jnandeep Puthibhoral was erected recently.

Pranjal had a dream to set up a library in the village to spread knowledge and information. To fulfil this dream of Pranjal’s, people of the village came forward and provided a helping hand in setting up the library.

In a function held at Pranjal’s house, senior citizen Krishna Baruah and Udit Baruah laid the foundation of the library. They also dwelt on the role of naamghars and libraries in social development during their time. Participating in the function, Dr Bijoy Krishna Chetia, noted social activist, columnist and founder of Sanmilita Prayash-Demow Book Depot, assured to provide all kind of help and cooperation and emphasized the initiative of Sanmilita Prayash-Demow Book Depot to create a section of new readers.

Dr Rajendra Mohan Deba Sarmah, librarian of Nazira College, narrated briefly the significance of a village library and shared his personal experiences of mobile library. He also provided a packet of books to the library.
