Lakhimpur All India Democratic Students’ Organization protests against decision to withdraw free-of-cost admission benefit

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district committee of All India Democratic Students’ Organization (AIDSO) expressed strong reaction against the decision to withdraw the free-of-cost admission benefit to those students who have back log in any semester exam.

Regarding the issue, the activists of the organization, led by secretary Bhaitee Chungkrang, staged chatra bikshyobh in front of the Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday to oppose the decision. The organization further opposed the decision of withdrawing the same benefits to the students who fail to secure 75 per cent attendance. The organization stated that the opportunity to pursue higher education by the students belonging to poor families would be lost due to such decisions.

Shouting various slogans in protest against these decisions and in support of their demand to retain the benefits, the protesters rocked the environment of the DC office campus. Initiating the agitation programme, the organization submitted a memorandum to the State Education Minister. Through the memorandum they further demanded to facilitate free of cost admission benefits to those students too who were studying in the venture colleges of the State.
