LAKHIMPUR: Lakhimpur district administration gave a warm felicitation to the five meritorious students of the district, who managed to grab ranks among the top 10 positions in the HSLC exam this year.
Notably, as per result declared by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) on Monday, Rajib Paul of Sonapur Pukhuria High School of Laluk grabbed the fourth position while Kinnori Dutta of St. Mary’s High School, North Lakhimpur secured the fifth rank. On the other hand, Kuldip Hazarika of Dhalpur Higher Secondary School secured the eighth rank while Palok Jajoo of Brookfield School, North Lakhimpur and Ankita Saikia of St. Mary’s High School, North Lakhimpur jointly secured the ninth position among the toppers of the State.
In order to fete them, the district administration organized a ceremonial programme in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday. The programme commenced with Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan in the chair in the presence of parents and guardians of the rank holder students, headmasters and other teachers of the respective schools, Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka, Lakhimpur SP Ananda Mishra, District Development Commissioner Utpal Borah, Additional Deputy Commissioner Manorama Morang, social worker Phanidhar Baruah and other officers of the district administration. In the programme, the meritorious students were feted with phulam gamosa, bundle of books and mementos appreciating for their outstanding performances in the exam.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Manab Deka called upon the students to take a pledge to becomes human resources by pursuing education in the real sense. The MLA declared that he would shoulder all the study expenses of Rajib Paul who hails from a poor family and has managed to shine in the exam by overcoming all the pecuniary difficulties of the family.
Congratulating the rank holders and appreciating their parents and teachers, Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan said that the remarkable achievements of the students were encouraging for the district. He added that Rajib Paul had set an example for the upcoming students with his inspiring result despite all odds. He said that the district administration would initiate immediate steps for the infrastructural development of the schools of the district which needed it.
Newly-appointed SP Ananda Mishra, social worker Phanidhar Baruah also delivered encouraging lectures in the programme, wherein the rank holders, their parents and headmasters of their schools also shared their thoughts. Lakhimpur district administration also feted the parents of the rank holders and the headmasters of their schools in the same programme.
