Lakhimpur district administration gears up to celebrate District Day

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district administration has initiated move to celebrate the District Day (Zila Divas) following the instruction of the State Government. The event will be celebrated on October 2 of the current year. Notably, Lakhimpur was declared as a full-fledged district on October 2 in 1971.

In this connection, a meeting was held in the Deputy Commissioner's office on Thursday under the management of ADC Manorama Morang. It was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan. Former Bihpuria MLA-cum-former Education Minister of the State, Premdhar Borah, Madhavdev University vice-chancellor Dr. Dibakar Chandra Deka, district heads of the government departments, educational institutions, prominent citizens were present in the meeting wherein detailed discussion was held in order to chalk out the plans and programme to celebrate the event.
