LAKHIMPUR: The people of greater Adisuti area under Pub Telahi Gaon Panchayat of Lakhimpur district have appealed to the district administration to provide a government boat at Adisuti Par Ghat at the earliest.

Notably, the one and only boat, which was the only medium of communication for the people of Adisuti with the mainland of the district, got wrecked and drowned on August 29 while hitting at unseen bamboo spar in the Subansiri River. At that time, the boat was laden with 150 bags rice, 44 bags of dal, 94 kilogram of salt and 394 litres of mustard oil, which were being carried to Adisuti and Bandarkata revenue villages from Gohain Tekela as flood relief provided by district administration. The relief items were damaged.

Adisuti Par Ghat is not only the connecting point for Adisuti area but it also connects Ujani Adisuti, Roumari, Bali Chapori, Borsha Chapori, Borshamukh, Kopak Chapori, Krishnapur, Bonduguri, Bandarkota Mising Gaon, Tenga Chapori along with many other adjacent areas. Under such circumstances, the people of an extensive area are facing problems with regard to communicating with the mainland of the district since August 29 due to the boat being wrecked. So, the people of the area, by submitting a petition on Monday, appealed to the Circle Officer of North Lakhimpur Revenue Circle to provide a government boat to the Par Ghat at the earliest.

On Wednesday, a delegation of Adisuti Unnayan Samiti, led by president Bukudhar Taid and secretary Nirmal Taid, called on Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka regarding the issue. The delegation submitted a memorandum to the MLA in this connection and urged him to initiate immediate steps.
