LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of Hindu Yuba Chatra Parishad, Asom (HYCPA) has condemned Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah for his ‘Love Jihad’ statement. Notably, the APCC president on Thursday compared the divine love stories of Krishna-Rukmini and Dhritarashtra-Gandhari, found in the epic Mahabharata, to ‘Love Jihad’ in connection with the triple murder case of Golaghat.

In this context, the HYCPA leaders, while criticizing him with strong terms, said that Bhupen Borah is void of spiritual knowledge. In a press release, Lakhimpur district unit HYCPA president Jugmajyoti Dutta, general secretary Ghana Kanta Borah said, “No matter whatever Bhupen Borah is or what designation Bhupen Borah is holding, he is void of spiritual knowledge. As a follower of the Hinduism by birth, he should have at least little knowledge of the ‘Sanatan Dharma-Sanskriti’ and the history of our nation. To earn the knowledge of them, he should study the Vedas, Upanishdas, Gita, Bhagawat, Ramayana- the treasure of the knowledge of Sanatan Sanskriti. If he feels the need for them for his spiritual enhancement, our organization will help.”

Through the same press release, the president and the general secretary of the organization warned Bhupen Borah to do value based politics, not by making objectionable remarks on Hindu gods and goddesses. “Then he can create a good image among the people. We warned him to make his statement in future after due consideration. Otherwise, we will initiate democratic action against him,” the president and the general secretary of the organization added.
