Controversial death of Kanmai Patgiri

LAKHIMPUR: Assistant Professor of Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH), Dr Trinayan Mili has been suspended. In this connection, Dr. Siddharth Singh, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam Medical Education & Research Department, has issued an order vide No. HLB. 245/2022 dated June 4.
Notably, Dr. Trinayan Mili was involved in the treatment of Kanmai Patgiri of Gahpur who died at LMCH with her baby on June 2 during her caesarean operation in an unfortunate situation. The order said, "The DME, Assam and three senior faculties from AMC&H, Dibrugarh have enquired into the matter and found prima facie case of professional misconduct and negligence of duty on the part of Dr. Trinayan Mili, Assistant Professor, Department of O&G, Lakhimpur Medical College & Hospital. Now, therefore, pending drawal of Disciplinary Proceedings, Dr. Trinayan Mili, Assistant Professor, Department of O&G, Lakhimpur Medical College & Hospital is placed under suspension with effect from June 4 as per Rule 6(2) of the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964,"
During the period of suspension, Dr. Mili will be paid subsistence allowance as per rule, and he has been barred from carrying out private practice or any other employment, business, profession or vocation as stipulated in F.R.53(2), until further orders. Moreover, during this period, the headquarter of Dr Mili will be Lakhimpur and he has been restricted from leaving his headquarter without obtaining the written permission of the Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent of LMCH.
