Lakhimpur police arrested a smuggler of fake gold along with another person on Friday.

LAKHIMPUR: Lakhimpur police arrested a smuggler of fake gold along with another person on Friday.

The smuggler has been identified as Anarul Islam, son of Eusuf Ali, inhabitant of Mohghuli Borsola under North Lakhimpur Police Station, while the other person has been identified as Monoj Kumar Tripathi of Bahraich under Uttar Pradesh. He is an ex-Army personnel.

As per report, Anarul Islam, along with two more persons named Azizur Rahman and Hares Ali, sold a boat made of fake gold to Monoj Kumar Tripathi, who illegally transacted Rs 4 lakh to buy the boat from the smugglers. Following information received from source, police arrested the ex-Army personnel and then Anarul Islam fell in the trap of police. Azizur Rahman and Hares Ali are still absconding. Police recovered cash Rs. 2,70,000, the boat made of fake gold, a mobile phone and five pieces of tiny golden metals from their custody. They have been sent to jail.
