Land brokers arrested in Sonitpur district

As many as 14 land brokers and middlemen have been arrested from different locations of the Sonitpur district.

TEZPUR: As many as 14 land brokers and middlemen have been arrested from different locations of the Sonitpur district. They have been identified as Gunakanta Patangia of Solagaon, Hemen Borah of Dekargaon, Sibanabda Gogoi of Goroimari, Dipen Phukan of Baraua Chuburi Kumargaon, Rajbabu Patangia of B P Tiniali, Monoj Barman of Borjhargaon, Achyut Rajbonshi of Murhateteli, Bhupen Nath of View Baam Parbotia, Ganga Chetri of Puthimari, Bimuram Patangia of Sirajuli, N Das of Kolibari and Kuwali Mahajan of Tezpur town.

All of them have been produced in the court and they have been sent to five days police remand. Superintendent of Police of Sonitpur, Dr Dhananjay P Ghanawat said that more land brokers would be arrested in the district.

Earlier this month, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had warned of stern action against those involved in illegal land brokering activities.
