Language and literature are mirror of a community: Khalingduar MCLA

"Language is an identity of a community and race and people of Bengali community are conscious about protecting and preaching their mother tongue, which has gone a long way in establishing Bengali language and literature in the world platform."

TANGLA: "Language is an identity of a community and race and people of Bengali community are conscious about protecting and preaching their mother tongue, which has gone a long way in establishing Bengali language and literature in the world platform." This was observed by Deputy Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Gobinda Chandra Basumatary.

Addressing the open session on the occasion of 'International Mother Language Day' organized by Pub-Bharat Bangla Xahitya Xabha at Tangla Model School playground in Tangla town of Udalguri district on Sunday, he opined that language and literature were the mirror of a community and were sources of inspiration to build multi-cultural and inclusive societies where people of all races, faiths, languages and cultures got respect and could live with dignity.

He further asserted that everyone must hold their mother tongue in high esteem and emphasized the importance of protection and preservation of regional languages as it translated to the protection and preservation of culture and heritage of a community. He also promised of providing support and resolving the issues plaguing the Tangla Model High School, the only Bangla medium school in greater Tangla town of Udalguri district.

Khalingduar MCLA, Dilip Kumar Boro, while echoing the spirit of the occasion, asserted that language was a pillar for a community and the indigenous language and literature must be protected so that the vibrant culture and colour of the nation could be upheld.

The open session presided over by Subhash Sarkar was attended by general secretary of the linguistic body, Sanjay Saha; president Atin Das ; United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) central organizing secretary Swapan Das, among others.
