JAGUN: A team of Lekhapani Police led by Puranjay Borah, the officer in-charge of the local police station, arrested two thieves from Jagun Hawaipathar village under Lekhapani police station in Tinsukia district on Monday.

The thieves have been identified as Bipul Bailung (20) from Ramnagar Jagun and Dhunu Rajbongshi (22) from Ketetong Margherita. They admitted before the police that they had looted four houses on the same day in Udaipur village in Lekhapani. The police also recovered a number of Android mobile phones, gold bangles and chains, a sharp weapon and some cash from their possession.

According to police sources, the arrested thieves were involved in various thefts in Jagun and its surrounding areas. This arrest has made the people of Jagun and Lekhapani heave a sigh of relief.
