DIGBOI: All local organizations should join forces to successfully resolve the issues of the common man. They must fight to root out corruption and other malpractices from the society.
This appeal was made by senior journalist Raju Hazarika while addressing the activists of various organisations including ATTSA, AASU, TAYP and mediapersons during the inauguration of an office of the Tingrai unit of Tai-Ahom Yuba Parishad (TAYP) here in Tinsukia district on Sunday afternoon.
Lauding the TAYP for having its new office, Hazarika urged the local organisations in Digboi to spearhead their drives against the departmental corruptions, unabated deforestation, and other malpractices in the society. He also urged them to exert pressure on the authority concerned for enhancing the capacity of the heritage refinery in Digboi.
A brief formal proceeding was held after the inaugural ceremony with Dipankar Gogoi the district president of TAYP on the chair. Among the dignitaries who addressed the gathering were the president of ATTSA's Digboi unit -- Prabhu Gorh and also the president of AASU's Digboi unit -- Bhaben Kharuwa. Both lauded the activities undertaken by the Tingrai unit of TAYP under the leadership of Dhurba Changmai -- the president of the organisation.
Appreciating the suggestions of the journalist Raju Hazarika, the district president of TAYP -- Dipankar Gogoi said that the Ahom organization has been striving to work in the best interest of the society by maintaining cordial relations with various organisations.
The vice president of TAYP Central Committee, Jayanta Gogoi said that the organization is committed towards the preservation of the socio-religious and rich cultural heritage of Assam besides promoting peace and fraternity among the people of the Assam.
Also present on the occasion were TAYP working president Bikram Konwar and the secretary of the Tinsukia district unit of TAYP, Guddu Thakur and the president of AASU's Tingrai unit, Lava Khanikar.
