SIVASAGAR: Irked over the pathetic condition of historic Duvarani Ali Road of Sivasagar, built during the Ahom era, locals staged a protest on Tuesday.

Hundreds of local residents blocked the road and shouted various slogans against the department concerned and local MLA for their 'irresponsible' attitude. The historic Duvarani Ali Road, under Sivasagar Legislative assembly is the only mode of transport for the greater Amguri-Meteka residents. But the condition of the historic Duvarani Ali Road has become deplorable of late. Nearly 100 meters of the road in the middle of the village has been completely destroyed due to which in the recent rains, water accumulated in the area.

MLA Akhil Gogoi has been sharply criticized by the locals for allegedly not showing any kind of interest in repairing the historic road. The residents have demanded immediate repair of the road.
