Locomotive Driver Electrocuted, Body Found Lying At Railway Station In Guwahati

On Tuesday 18 January the dead body of the Guwahati-Murkongselek train driver was found lying near the train engine after he was electrocuted.

GUWAHATI: In an unfortunate incident the driver of the Guwahati-Murkongselek train was killed after getting electrocuted while he was confirming engine water.

The incident took place at the Guwahati Railway Station in Guwahati, Assam.

The locomotive driver of the Guwahati-Murkongselek train was filling water at the engine of his train when he came in contact with a high voltage live wire and as a result, he was electrocuted.

The deceased person was later identified as Shiv Saikia and his dead body is reported seen lying close to the train's engine in the Guwahati Railway Station.

According to reports Shiv Saikia went atop the engine to check and examine the level of water in the engine and unfortunately, his body came in touch with a double wire that had high-powered electricity. The engineman then died of electric shock.

There has been a number of incidents where people in Guwahati city are either dying or getting severely injured after getting electrocuted for different reasons.

Earlier in November last year, two individuals were badly electrocuted in the Khanapara location of Guwahati. The victims were identified as electrical maintenance workers namely Sofiqul Islam and Saddam Hussein.

Both the electric workers came in touch with a high conductor wire in the Khanapara electricity wiring area. They were immediately admitted to Guwahati Metro Hospital. The duo was working with all safety measures though got burn injuries but they survived the accident.

However, in the case of the electrocuted deaths in Guwahati city, there are many incidents reported last year.

In another similar incident in the same city in June 2021, a young man was electrocuted in the Chandmari area. The man was identified as Diganta who died on the spot after confronting a high-powered wire. According to reports the man was busy with some painting activity near the railway crossing gate early in the morning hours and got stuck with the wire with high voltage.
